Refill, Reuse, Repeat: Why a Clean Bottle Matters
At Olive Ventura, we love seeing our customers return with their clean, and dry Olive Ventura bottles for refills. It's a simple way to enjoy your favorite Olive Ventura olive oil and balsamic flavors, save money, and make a positive impact on the environment.
However, before you bring your bottle back, there is one important step we ask everyone to follow: Please wash your bottle thoroughly with hot, soapy water and make sure bottle is completely dry, otherwise we cannot refill your bottle.
Why Is a Clean, Dry Bottle So Important?
Olive oil and balsamic vinegar are food products, and keeping them fresh and free from contamination is our priority.
Over time, leftover olive oil can become rancid, leaving behind unpleasant odors and flavors. Even a small amount of old oil or residue can affect the quality and taste of your fresh refill.
Moisture is another concern. Water left inside a bottle can compromise the quality of your olive oil and potentially contribute to quicker spoilage.
A clean, completely dry bottle helps ensure that every refill tastes just as fresh and delicious as your new bottle purchase.
How to Prepare Your Bottle for a Refill
- Wash thoroughly: Use hot, soapy water to remove any remaining olive oil or balsamic residue (Pro Tip: Use baking soda and bottle brush to make removing oil residue easier). Be careful not to burn yourself when washing your bottle(s). Wearing dishwashing gloves can be helpful.
- Rinse well: Make sure all soap and contaminants are completely removed from your Olive Ventura bottle.
- Air-dry your bottle completely: Leave the bottle upside down to drain for a few minutes, then turn your bottle upright to dry thoroughly before replacing the cap. It may take a day or two for the bottle to thoroughly dry.
- Bring your clean and dry bottle back! Your Olive Ventura bottle is now ready to be refilled with delicious California olive oil or balsamic.
Small Refills, Big Environmental Benefits
Every bottle you reuse means one less new bottle needs to be manufactured, boxed, and transported across the country to our store, thus saving energy and the environment.
By refilling your existing bottle, you're helping reduce packaging waste, conserve precious resources, and support a more sustainable way of living and shopping.
And here's another reason to love refilling: You save $4 on every eligible refill of 13 ounce or larger bottle(s) at Olive Ventura. But wait there’s more, you save $2 on our 5-ounce trail size bottles too!
It's a small habit that makes a meaningful difference.
Our Commitment to Food Safety
Your health and safety will always come first. Under the California Retail Food Code, Section 114121, consumer-owned containers must be clean to qualify for refilling.
To comply with California food safety requirements and maintain our quality standards, Olive Ventura will not refill bottles that are dirty, contain residue, or are not completely dry.
Thank you for helping us keep every refill fresh, safe, and environmentally friendly.
Refill. Reuse. Save. Together, we make a difference!
